WGI World Championships - Dayton Ohio
KIDA would like to congratulate Mechanicsburg HS Platnum guard for their wonderful showing this past weekend at WGI Championships in Dayton. This was their first year competing in the Scholastic World Division (the highest division for scholastic units) and faired quite well at this highly competitive level.
On Thursday April 8th they finished 17th in Prelims with a score of 80.60, and then in Semi Finals on Friday April 9th they moved up to 16th place with a score of 79.90. Unfortunately, only the top 15 guards advance to finals. A heartbreaking place to finish.
To the staff and students at Mechanicsburg, we here at KIDA are quite proud of you and your accomplishments. Congratulations!
After much hard work, the new KIDA.org is prepared for launch. Over the next week, the current website will be pulled down and the new site will be launched. We hope that during this process, there will be no interruption of service, but with any change of this nature, the chance does exist. Please be patient as this transition is made.
Here is what to expect for the roll out of the new KIDA.org:
* A "Beta" of the new website will be launched by Monday, March 1. All updated from this point will be made exclusively to the new website.
* Complete transfer to the new website will occur on March 8. The old website will be archived offline and pulled off
The new KIDA.org will offer many new features for the membership: * Improved design and navigation
* Easily viewable scores and show information
* News and Event pages
* KIDA History
* Improved document organization
Due to the severe weather that has been experienced this season, KIDA is happy to announce that two additional shows are being added to the schedule. Both shows will take place on Sunday, March 21. These shows will be hosted at Susquehannock HS and Brunswick HS.
Additionally, space is still available at Musselman HS (3.06), Cedar Cliff (3.13), and Red Land (3.20).
KIDA would like to congratulation the following finalist who participated at the WGI Regional at Rochester, NY:
Mechanicsburg High School Guard - 1st Place Scholastic World Class - 68.800 Red Land High School - 3rd Place Scholastic A Class - 69.900 Mechanicsburg High School "A" - 8th Place Scholastic A Class - 58.800
As I write this email we have finally completed the second successful competitive show of the season. Mother nature has not been playing very nice with us this season and has caused many school closures, loss of practice time and in turn loss of shows. Not the way we were looking to have this season go. Many of you have been contacting with questions about the need for make up shows and how the association will be handling this process. As the bylaws state, if a show is cancelled due to weather as long as you had an active contract with the said school, your unit will receive credit for the show.
We are currently working with the current shows to see if we can increase performance numbers as the facilities will permit (within reason) to allow everyone some additional opportunities to place your performances on the floor for additional reads by the judges. As additional opportunities become available they will be shared with everyone for your information and decisions. If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact me for further clarification.
Let's hope that everyone will be able to make their scheduled shows without any interruption from mother nature.
Please also keep in mind that Solo and Ensemble is coming up on us quickly and applications for this event should be sent in as soon as possible. The schedule is being build and the length of this event will determine on the number of participants.
